Don’t Miss Thorntonfest

Thorntonfest
Thorntonfest

You have been impatiently waiting for the annual Thorntonfest to roll around, and it’s almost time. Mark your calendar for May 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. That’s when your entire family can head to Carpenter Park Fields at 108th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard to enjoy the signature event of Thornton. Thorntonfest is full of activities for people of all ages, and you don’t want to miss out.

Let’s look at some of the festival’s most exciting events.

The Battle of the Bands

The Battle of the Bands is always a favorite event at Thorntonfest. This is where local bands can shine. There are a few ground rules to ensure the event is family friendly. You can take your kids to the battle without worrying about hearing inappropriate language or songs about drugs, alcohol, or violence. These aren’t just rules on a page. The event staff is right there, policing the musicians to make sure they don’t break the rules. That means you can relax and enjoy the music with your little ones. Expect to be impressed by the local musicians. Thornton has some real talent, and much of it will be on display at the Battle of the Bands.

The Dance Stage

The people of Thornton don’t just sing and play guitar. They can also bust a move, so you’ll want to check out the dance stage. Just like the Battle of the Bands, the Dance Stage is up and running throughout the entire festival. You can watch performances by various dance teams and studios. Just don’t be surprised if your toes start tapping to the music. Dancing is contagious, especially when you’re at Thorntonfest.

The Marketplace Stage

How about a little bit more music? If you want to mix it up a bit, head to the Marketplace Stage, where you will find more music. That Eighties Band just might be the highlight of the Marketplace Stage. It’ll hit the stage at 2:30 p.m., and it’ll be playing your favorite ’80s tunes. You’ll get to go back in time when you listen to That Eighties Band play. These musicians really know how to bring it.
